OUR HOME ON THE FRONT PROJECT IS LIVE, AND ACTIVELY PROVIDING FOR OUR TROOPS
We take pride in our partnership efforts, because we put ourselves into our projects.
Just like each of our projects, our African Children's Outreach with Friends Of Africa takes place all throughout the year.
We do more than just show you, we physically take you there.
Transparency is KEY.
Back in the states, there are many organizations that have different outreach programs to other countries. How do the donors know that the money and resources get to the children? We bring it there and show you in real time when they receive the intended services.
As an Educator in the States, we have the resources at our disposal. Like Teacher's Choice, Walmart and other places where we can get new school supplies every year. They do not. Most of their materials are outdated and worn, or in short supply. We try to provide a comprehensive list of their needs so we can deliver directly to them in Africa.
The beauty about what we do with the kids is that they love to play and interact with us outside just like our students in the states.
They love soccer, frisbee, jump rope, football and they love to dance.
Twice a month, Friends of Africa
has clothing drives for the children of Djibouti, Kenya and Somalia.
Your donations are given directly to them personally.
Simple clothes and shoes are appreciated.
Ages range from 5yrs to 16yrs.
You could not tell that these kids are in an orphanage.
Transparency- We will always show our donors
where their contribution are going. There are
no actors, no scripts, just real African children
in a real African orphanage with real African teachers receiving help from real Americans.
The great thing about what we do, is that we cut out the middle man. We take away the politics and go directly where our services are needed.
When is the last time you played with a frisbee, their version of duck duck goose or just kicked a soccer ball back and forth to each other?
It's the little things that can make a lasting impact. We made a simple shoe rack so they don't have a messy pile of shoes.
Even in Africa, teachers need the basics to maintain their students and their classrooms.
Paper, pencils, markers, books, etc...
Yes, there are times when the language barrier between us is high, but music, dancing, soccer and jumping rope is all universal
When you interact with them, their loving nature overshadows their needs because they don't complain. BUT we can see that they need new clothes, new sneaker and sandals.

Keep in mind that each Orphanage has about 50 kids each. The kids range between 4-17 years of age with a mix of more girls than boys. When you see photos below, you get a better idea of the sizes. They need footwear for African climate. sneakers, croc style flip flops, sandals, shorts, tee shirts, and underwear for both boys and girls.
When we get monetary donations, we go directly to places where we get the most out of a dollar. We generally start with Five Below, if you have one near you. You can find some good deals in Walmart or Target if you look hard enough. Also, most places have discount stores where you can find some good no-name brands. We try to stay away from donated clothing, due to the difference in cultural cleaning. Most are Muslim here, so they don't wash their clothes the same way we do. You can probably go into these establishments and ask for donations of outdated, defective or returned items they can't sell.
Absolutely, most of these children have no homes to go to at night. That means, they sleep on the ground under a tent sometimes. So they would need those exercise mats that you can get from Five Below or another discount store. don't forget the blankets. We definitely know that Walmart sells twin size blankets for $7.00. That is what we get when we give to the homeless in our outreach coverage areas.
TRANSPARENCY: This is what separates SILVER LINING OUTREACH from others. Everything we do, we share with out supporters through our social media contacts. We have hands on interaction with each of our projects. This way, it allows for you, the donor, to see exactly where your contributions go in Real Time, with Real People in Real Places.
